So, we’re looking at ways to start thinking more creatively. Like we said before, there is no great answer that will work for everyone, but there are a few things that most people will find helpful. Let’s begin on the right foot and be spiritual about the process. After all, the reason we want to be more creative is to have a greater impact with our ministries.
Stay in the Word
If we want to be more creative in how we present the word of God, then we need to stay in the word…Duh! Beyond the fact that the Bible is our source material, it also shows us the great creativity that God himself has used to get his message across. Miracles, parables, psalms, even writing in the mud…what an amazing look at the author of creativity in action! If we want to be creative in how we present God’s word to kids, but aren’t in the word ourselves…uh, Houston we have a problem!
Ask God
Everyone knows that passage from James 4:2, “You do not have because you do not ask God.” I’m not sure how else to say it, but God is oozing with creativity. This is the guy who came up with roses, the Grand Canyon, strawberries, Mt Everest, and naked mole rats! Not only that, but he designed the human brain and gave it the ability to come up with stuff like Beethoven’s 5th, the Mona Lisa, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band, and “Star Wars.” Face it, God’s a creative guy! If you want some of His creativity…ask for it!
